Enhanced DBS Checks are designed for individuals working with society’s most vulnerable and at-risk groups. This includes healthcare professionals, support workers, teachers, and others whose roles involve regular contact with children or adults in need of safeguarding.
Since 2026 you can now apply for an Enhanced Check as a self employed individual.
However, we still need to make sure you’re eligible for an Enhanced level.
To ensure you are eligible for the Enhanced Check you must first pay £10.00 for an Eligibility Check. Based on the information you provide to our team of DBS counter-signatories, we shall ensure that your role meets the relevant criteria. If we have some additional questions we may reach out to clarify.
For those candidates who are eligible, the £10.00 assessment fee will be removed from our DBS Check admin fee.
If you are not eligible then you may proceed with a Basic Check.
Unfortunately MyCheck cannot offer any refunds on the eligibility assessment costs.
How to apply for an Enhanced DBS Check
What is an Enhanced DBS Check?
An Enhanced DBS Check provides the most comprehensive insight into an individual’s criminal history. The certificate will include:
Spent and unspent convictions
Cautions
Warnings
Reprimands
An optional check of the Child or Adult Barred List
In addition, it may include relevant information held by local police that could be important for an employer. This level of check is essential for roles involving contact with vulnerable groups, providing reassurance and safeguarding both employees and those in their care.
